      Cedar Rapids, Iowa – October 16, 2014
Apache Inc., is participating for a second year in the Advancing the Future Tour.

Members of the Cedar Rapids area and the Iowa Creative Corridor are invited for tours of Apache from 1 – 3:30pm, on Monday, October 20th. During the tour, Apache will open their doors to the public in order to help educate and create interest in growing employment opportunities. Other area manufacturing facilities will also offer tours throughout the corridor, October 20th – 23rd.

According to Iowa’s Advanced Manufacturing Consortium, there are more than 208,000 manufacturing jobs in the state. Today’s manufacturers offer high skilled positions with a lot of earning potential. In 2011, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported the average manufacturing worker earned $77,060 annually, including pay and benefits. Yet a shortage of 6,672 skilled workers is projected by 2018.

Over 700 attended last year’s Advancing the Future tour. This year 350 high school students are expected, in addition to other attendees.

On Thursday, October 23rd, Apache will also be participating in the Kirkwood Job Fair for Manufacturers from 4pm-7pm in Jones Hall on the Kirkwood Main Campus.
